Interview: A New Impulse for Bratislava - Restart of the Personal Port on the Danube

One of the most beautiful locations in Bratislava – Fajnorovo nábrežie – is set to undergo a major transformation. The Passenger Port building, operated by Slovenská plavba a prístavy, a.s., will undergo a comprehensive reconstruction and gain a new, representative appearance. The goal of the project is not only to modernize the space, but also to highlight its importance as the city’s gateway via the Danube.

According to the Chairwoman of the Board, Ľudmila Masariková, this is not an ordinary renovation – it is a vision that has been in preparation for almost ten years and is now entering the implementation phase. “Our ambition is to bring the port back to life. We want to create a place that will достойно represent Bratislava, connect history with modern design, and at the same time provide high-quality services for passengers and visitors,” says Ľudmila Masariková.

The port, a symbol of Bratislava’s connection with the river and European waterways, will become a vibrant space with new services, renovated facilities, and improved accessibility after the reconstruction. The project aims to complement the promenade zone with a modern structure that will blend into the urban environment while preserving its authentic character.

In the interview, you will also learn more about the specific technical and architectural changes to come, how the passenger port will adapt to the future of river transport, and what significance its transformation will have for the entire capital city.
